This time of year we tend to be disappointed when we get drenched in the rain. Last night however, we got drenched with good reason, in a very hot Holmfirth Picturedrome for The Beat Summer Ska Splash. A wonderful evening with a lively crowd. Thanks goes to the venue staff, the Gig Cartel, and the engineers for all their hard work. Plus all who came along, danced in the heat, and came up to say hello. Last but by no means least, our MC on the night, Fat Piggy, who always reserves a special welcome for us whenever we cross The Pennines!
Some excellent photos taken at the Holmfirth gig with Dave Wakeling & The English Beat, courtesy of Dave Dunn at DD Concert Photography. There’s a link below to the full slideshow, putting us amongst some esteemed company – thanks, Dave!

Our first outing for 2014, opening for Dave Wakeling & The English Beat at Holmfirth for the start of his UK Tour. Another fantastic turnout, well done to The Street Team. It was nice to meet up with you after the show, along with lengendary guitarist Roddy Byers. Thanks to everyone who came up to say hello and for all the favourable comments -which included some kind words from Dave himself!
Two wonderful outdoor shows at the weekend – the unique courtyard setting for the Commercial Bar in Chester on Friday. Thanks to John, the sound guys, and all the staff for looking after us. A great gig to help celebrate Sax Man John Clark’s birthday. The weather held up well for our whirlwind perfomance at the United Colours of Music Festival in Sheffield on Sunday. Our thanks to Fat Piggy, Steve, Lynne, the engineers….an endless list of people who helped to put this show on, not forgetting the sleep-deprived Phil on night-watch at the campsite! Thanks also to Boots Bellies & Braces DJs for spinning some top vinyl into the early hours. Met loads of nice people too at both gigs who’d travelled from near and far, thank you all for coming and for your favourable comments.
Congratulations to our very own John Clark, who has hit the big 50 today. If you see him this weekend, don’t forget to get him a drink 😉 Happy Birthday, John!!!!
What a great day yesterday in Ashbourne. Wonderful views of the Peak District en route, hundreds of scooters and tents in the fields surrounding the venue, and a jumping marquee for our show! Thanks to all the VFM Crew for all your hard work, and all who came up and said hello. Also special thanks to Mickey & Lou for offering extra protection for my tent when the rain came!!
